THE CHALLENGE

- Take a small cannabis start-up based in Regina and make it's new brand Kazoo equivalent to the "cool kid in class" that everyone wants to hang out with.




THE APPROACH

- Taking inspiration from both the rough and tumble grassroots realities of prairie life with the mellow confidence of the Miami club scene, Dean developed an iconography based approach that walked the perfect line between compliance and cool,
- The result was a Unilever-style graphic icon and wordmark to pair with the brand name. This would inspire a suite of marketing visuals.
- A visual showcase style website was developed to provide Kazoo users with an immersive brand experience. Taking inspiration from the Cel-shaded artwork of the video game Grand Theft Auto, Dean developed custom digital illustrations representing the unique personalities of each of the 3 initial vape SKUs, Cabana Banana, Melon Monroe, and Akoostic. Interactive hover and scroll effects provided a playful place for customers to interact with the brand or access customer service.

THE WIN

- The brand's look was groundbreaking for the nascent regulated cannabis market in Canada and was exceptionally well-received by retailers and customers Canada-wide.
